Happy 1st Birthday Scarlet!!!!!

Guess who turned one year old today? Yes that would be our beautiful little girl, Miss Scarlet Ann Shockley! And to celebrate Daddy bought a brand new camera! UPS delivered a new Canon digital SLR (the Canon EOS Rebel XSi) late yesterday afternoon and Daddy broke it in proper today by taking a boat-load of pictures of the super-special, birthday girl! I knew that it would be a big improvement over our little mid-size digital camera (a Canon A620), but it is amazing just how much better the images it produces really are in comparison. Here's a sample of some of pics from the new camera. Our little birthday princess having a busy day!

Crawling all over the house first thing this morning.

Playing with her favorite cups!

Playing bongos on my tin Q-tip holder.

Taking a serious look at it.

Playing with her "ball maze" machine.

Playing with her new "Dolly," a birthday present from her Grandma Sharon.

Trying to get Daddy to get her another book.

Getting a book HERSELF (just to throw on the floor, of course).

Having some "goldfish" as a snack before going out.

Enjoying being at the park with Ma-ma & Da-da.

Sticking my tongue out at Da-da, and looking so cute.

What a model!

Scarlet's First Ice Cream Bar!

Back in mid-March (yes we're still trying to get caught up - hopefully this week), Scarlet was intently watching Momma eat a chocolate ice cream bar. So Momma decided to give Scarlet a taste, and boy did she take a liking to it! Of course, who wouldn't? Here's some pics of just how much she enjoyed her first "ice cream on a stick".

Good Morning Da-Da!

One morning back around the first of March, Daddy went in to Scarlet's room to check on her. I had heard her moving around in her crib, but I couldn't see her on the camera. And when I came into the room, I found her as shown in the pictures below. She was hanging onto the rail and instantly gave me a big grin and a "Da-da". It was cute and disconcerting all at the same time. So I grabbed the camera to capture the "moment". And then later that evening, I lowered the bottom of the crib to a lower position so she could no longer get her head above the rail (and possibly topple over it). Plus I had to move the camera (the white & silver thing on the wall under her "R") up to almost the ceiling so we can now see her at any spot in her crib!

Little Gym

Back in January I enrolled Scarlet in "The Little Gym" as I thought she needed some social interaction since she was home everyday with either Ron or myself. We started out in the "bugs" class which was for babies 4 to 10 months old. Here are some pictures taken a month and a half or so ago during one of our sessions. She has since advanced to the "birds" class with the big kids (10 mo - 18 mo)! While she is one of the youngest (and the only one not walking) she does a pretty good job in keeping up with them. Class pictures coming soon!

BUBBLES!
Ms Kay spends at least 5 to 10 minutes every week blowing bubbles and letting them pop/chase them.

Bells!
These are her second favorite thing to play with every week.

Balls!
Scarlet's favorite part of Little Gym.

Haley and Scarlet. Haley is 10 days younger than Scarlet and is about 2 months ahead of Scarlet when it comes to crawling and walking. You cant really tell from this picture but Scarlet seems huge next to her! Isnt she cute?

Hey! I want the purple one!

Balls AND bubbles! Doesn't get any better than this!

Posing for and with Da-Da

One evening 2 months ago or so (yes we're still posting from the archive of older pics trying to get caught up), Scarlet and Daddy were in the office playing around with the camera. First Scarlet posed doing her precious little grin and giggles. Then when she got too active to stay put, Daddy held her and posed with her for some semi-self-portraits. At least we got the elusive Da-Da actually IN a few pics with his sweet little girl.

A pretty day for a pretty hat!

When the weather first started to get warm around here in mid-March, Ma-Ma wanted to get Scarlet some fresh air one day. So they got a blanket, some toys and Scarlet's pretty white sun bonnet and went out in our backyard (still kinda brown back then). But Ginger didn't get too many good picture because Scarlet was way too infatuated with the grass to look up at the camera very much.

Scarlet's "Green Worm"

When it is time for Scarlet to eat, she often "needs" a distraction to keep her going. So we have a small basket full of toys in close proximity. She has colored stacking cups that were her Daddy's (yes they're over 40 years old) and a couple of other toys. This day back in March she decided her "Green Worm" tasted oh so good!

Baby's first coat!

Did you know that if you live in Texas, its hard finding a winter coat? We finally found one while visiting in OKC. Heres some pics of one of the two or three times Scarlet ever got to wear it. She would tend to go stiff like a scarecrow it was so thick!

Mmmmmm...Cheerios

Funny pictures of Scarlet trying to eat a handful of cheerios all at once. She was just starting to feed herself and didn't realize that most of what she was eating was stuck to her face.

St Louis/Superbowl party

Amy bought this cute little dress for Scarlet for Valentines day. Ummm.... we wore this well into March.

Shes pretty good on an airplane!

When you visit places without a highchair, you have to get creative.

This may be my favorite picture from this trip.

Amy showing Scarlet's "valentines" bottom. Notice Paul is still smiling in this picture. Must be early in the game.

Katie, Joe and Paul. Waiting on Amy to say "come eat."

Please move to Dallas Aunt Amy.

Heres some more from February. Ron, Scarlet and I went to St Louis to visit Amy (mixed in with some work time for me). It just happened to be over Superbowl weekend, so Amy did her "party planning" thing. While the food was good (great chili PBI) the game didnt turn out how some of us would have liked. (Paul is a HUGE Patriots fan). At least they got to see Scarlet though....
